The establishment and operationalization of the ESG Center represents a first-of-its-kind dedicated initiative within a professional body in Bangladesh and reflects ICMAB’s vision to position the accounting and finance profession at the forefront of the sustainability transformation. The Center will serve as a specialized platform for professional capacity building, research, technical guidance, knowledge development, stakeholder engagement and thought leadership on ESG and sustainability.

At the global level, ESG considerations are becoming increasingly integral to corporate strategy, investment decisions, risk management, governance and sustainability reporting. The ESG Center will help connect Bangladeshi professionals and organizations with evolving international practices in sustainability disclosure, climate-related risk, responsible investment and long-term value creation. It will also strengthen the capacity of Cost and Management Accountants to respond effectively to the growing expectations of investors, regulators, development partners and global value chains.

At the national level, the Center is expected to contribute to Bangladesh’s transition towards a more sustainable, resilient and competitive economy by promoting the practical integration of ESG principles into corporate and public-sector decision-making. Through training, research, professional dialogue and collaboration, the Center will support organizations in strengthening sustainability governance, improving ESG-related information and incorporating environmental and social considerations into strategy, performance management and resource allocation. It will also provide a platform for engagement among professional accountants, corporate leaders, regulators, policymakers, academia, financial institutions and sustainability practitioners.

For ICMAB, the ESG Center represents a significant expansion of its institutional role in preparing the profession for emerging responsibilities. As management accountants increasingly contribute to strategy, governance, risk management, resource efficiency and sustainable value creation, the Center will support members, students and stakeholders through professional development programs, research and publications, technical resources, executive training, case studies and collaboration with national and international organizations.

The inauguration of the ESG Center signifies ICMAB’s move from sustainability advocacy to a dedicated institutional mechanism for sustained ESG action. Through this initiative, ICMAB aims to develop the Center as a credible national platform for professional excellence, knowledge and collaboration, while strengthening the contribution of the management accounting profession to a sustainable, transparent, resilient and globally competitive

Bangladesh.
