Iran has warned the US that it will respond harshly if it takes any \u201cbold or provocative\u201d steps. Tehran also said it will take strong countermeasures if US President Donald Trump carries out a new threat of attack. Al Arabiya reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the warning in separate phone calls with top Turkish and Pakistani officials on Saturday (August 1).
\nHours earlier, the Kuwaiti army said it had destroyed several drones launched from Iran that were targeting important installations. Araghchi said in phone calls with Pakistani Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan that Iran would respond to any \u201caggression.\u201d
\nHe also discussed US \u201cdestabilizing activities\u201d and the possibility of further deterioration of regional security. However, Trump has already said that the US and Israel have agreed to temporarily suspend new attacks on Iran. But the condition is that a deal be reached quickly to end the months-long conflict.
\nTrump has said the United States is fully prepared to attack Iran. However, several countries in the Middle East, including Iran, have urged him not to launch new attacks. Trump wrote on his social media account \u2018Truth Social\u2019, \u201cFor the sake of the future of the world and for the sake of a successful and prosperous Iran, I have agreed to call off the attack if a deal can be made quickly.\u201d
\nEarlier, at a cabinet meeting held at Camp David on Friday, Trump said that he believed that US negotiators, including his son-in-law Jared Kushner, special envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, could still reach a deal with Iran.
