Major (retd) Muzaffar Hossain, the much-discussed accused in the murder case of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, has been produced before the International Crimes Tribunal. He was brought to the tribunal on Thursday (July 23) morning. A judicial panel headed by Tribunal-2 Chairman Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury is scheduled to hold a hearing on the matter today.
\nThe state said that a production warrant was issued against Muzaffar on charges of involvement in crimes against humanity committed during the Awami League government. In continuation of this, the tribunal ordered him to be produced today. The state will apply for arrest and interrogation in the crimes against humanity case.
\nEarlier, on July 21, the state had applied for a production warrant against Muzaffar, one of the accused in the Ziaur Rahman murder case. It is worth noting that Muzaffar Hossain was arrested from a house in Banani in the capital on the night of July 15 after being on the run for almost 45 years. The next day, he was handed over to the Dhaka Cantonment Military Police. Meanwhile, the deadline for submitting the investigation report against Lieutenant General (retd.) Masududdin Chowdhury in the case of crimes against humanity committed in Feni during the July 24 uprising was July 21. On that day, the state sought two more months. But the court did not give a new date on the charges of collusion with Muzaffar. For this reason, he was also produced before the tribunal today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
