The revised expansion plan focuses on increasing capacity for automotive-grade galvanised steel, advanced corrosion-resistant coated products and tinplate, reinforcing the company&#8217;s strategy of increasing the share of value-added flat steel products in its portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>Vijayanagar expansion targets automotive steel demand:<\/p>\n<p>The company has increased the planned capacity of its automotive continuous galvanising line (CGL) at Vijayanagar to 500,000 tonnes (t) per year from the previously announced 400,000 t\/year.<\/p>\n<p>The facility will manufacture 1,480 MPa ultra-high-strength galvanised steel for automotive applications, catering to growing demand from passenger vehicles, electric vehicles, and advanced mobility solutions.<\/p>\n<p>While equipment has already been ordered, the commissioning timeline has been revised to the July-September quarter of 2028, compared with the earlier target of June 2028.<\/p>\n<p>Kopoli expansion focuses on premium coated products:<\/p>\n<p>JSW Steel has also revised the downstream expansion programme at its Kopoli works.<\/p>\n<p>The second continuous galvanising line (CGL), primarily serving the building materials segment, will be commissioned as originally planned. However, the third CGL will be equipped with a zero-spangle galvanising line for producing zinc-aluminium-magnesium (Zn-Al-Mg) coated steel, a premium corrosion-resistant product used across automotive, infrastructure, solar and appliance applications.<\/p>\n<p>Following the revision, the planned coated steel capacity addition at Kopoli has increased to 960,000 t\/year, compared with the earlier planned 860,000 t\/year.<\/p>\n<p>Rajpura to add coated steel, tinplate capacity:<\/p>\n<p>At its Rajpura plant in Punjab, JSW Steel has increased the planned CGL capacity to 600,000 t\/year from 360,000 t\/year.<\/p>\n<p>The company will also install a 200,000-t\/year tinplate line, strengthening its presence in packaging steel. Equipment orders for both facilities have already been placed, with commissioning scheduled during FY&#8217;28.<\/p>\n<p>Outlook:<\/p>\n<p>The revised investment plan underscores JSW Steel&#8217;s continued focus on expanding its downstream value-added portfolio alongside upstream crude steel capacity.
