It shows captain Lionel Messi telling his teammates to stay calm, forget everything and just focus on the game. After the video was released, speculation has started about whether there was any unusual situation in the Argentina camp before the final.
\nArgentina lost the title to Spain in extra time last Sunday (July 19). Lionel Scaloni’s team did not manage to put a single shot on target in the entire match. Messi was also flawless. In the video released before the final, Messi can be heard saying, “Hey guys, everyone calm down. Let’s calm down, calm down. Let’s just think about the game, okay? Calm down. Let’s forget everything, forget everything. Let’s just play, come on, just focus on the game.”
\nMessi’s words in the video and the facial expressions of some of the players have sparked widespread discussion on social media. Many fans are claiming that something unexpected happened within the team before the match. However, no official statement has been made by the Argentine Football Association (AFA) or the team to support such claims. As a result, the matter is still just speculation.
\nSpain dominated the final from the start. La Rosaleda won 1-0 in extra time with a goal from Ferran Torres to win the World Cup for the second time since 2010. Meanwhile, the Argentina team returned home on Monday after the World Cup. However, captain Lionel Messi was not in the squad. The Argentine Football Association had previously announced that some members of the team would not return with the team. Messi was not seen on local television getting off the plane.
\nCoach Lionel Scaloni and other members of the team were welcomed with a red carpet and military bands. Thousands of fans braved the rain and cold to arrive at the airport to congratulate the team.
