Examiners have staged protests in various parts of the country, including Dhaka, demanding the resignation of Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon in protest of taking the HSC exam amid incessant rain and waterlogging. The Anti-discrimination student movement has expressed solidarity with the protest and instructed all units to stand by the students.
\nThis information was given in a press release signed by Lokman Hossain Limon, a member of the organization’s search committee, on Tuesday (July 14). It said, “The government has not postponed the exam in various parts of the country, ignoring the ongoing flood situation across the country and the real crisis of students in disaster-hit areas.”
\nThe Anti-discrimination student movement believes that it is the responsibility of the state and the relevant authorities to ensure the safety, mental health and equal opportunities of students affected by the disaster. Many students in flood-hit areas are facing real problems such as transportation problems, destruction of educational materials and using educational institutions as shelters. Taking the exam in such a situation is tantamount to discriminatory behavior against students.
\nWe express our full solidarity with the ongoing reasonable movement of HSC and equivalent examinees across Bangladesh and support their just demands.
\nAt the same time, the leaders and workers of all metropolitan, district, upazila, municipality, police station and unit committees of the anti-discrimination student movement are being instructed to provide all-out moral support and solidarity to the examinees in their peaceful and legal programs in their respective areas. However, we urge them to refrain from any kind of violence, vandalism, creating public suffering or activities that may deteriorate law and order.
\nWe once again urge the Ministry of Education and the concerned authorities to seriously consider the overall flood situation in the country, the safety and equal opportunities of students and to postpone the HSC and equivalent examinations, including the related examinations, and announce a new schedule after the situation normalizes, as well as ensure adequate preparation opportunities for students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
