Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that Iran has already developed nuclear weapons and plans to attack Israel with them. He said he is capable of protecting Israel from such an attack. Netanyahu made the claim in an interview with Israeli-based media outlet Channel 41. However, his political opponents dismissed the statement as a scare tactic.
\nThe Times of Israel reported that no US or Israeli intelligence agency had previously reported that Iran had developed a nuclear bomb. Analysts believe that Netanyahu made such comments to exaggerate the Iranian threat and his own role.
\nFormer Israeli army chief and wartime cabinet member Gadi Eisenkot said, “I know all the intelligence very well. Iran has not obtained a nuclear weapon. Netanyahu is lying to scare the Israeli people.\u2019 Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett also gave a similar response. He accused Netanyahu of lying and distorting history.
\nOn the other hand, Iran has always claimed that its nuclear program is entirely peaceful and is being conducted for civilian purposes. In 2025, Tehran allowed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect the country\u2019s nuclear facilities. At that time, the agency reported that Iran had 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60 percent. This amount of uranium could be used to make 10 nuclear bombs.
\nMeanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin\u2019s top aide and former president of the country, Dmitry Medvedev, said that the Strait of Hormuz, which is controlled by Iran, is as powerful as a nuclear bomb. Not only that, but Iran also has another major strategic power in its hands, which is\u2026 equivalent to a thermonuclear bomb, and that is the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
\nMedvedev said that Iran controls two sea lanes that are crucial for the world’s energy trade. If the country were to close these routes, it could cause widespread chaos in the international energy market.<\/p>\n
