The death toll from a devastating earthquake in Venezuela has now reached nearly 3,000 and more than 16,000 people have been left homeless, Reuters reported on Sunday (July 5), citing a government statement issued by the country on Saturday (July 4). The official death toll from the earthquake has risen to 2,954. More than 16,000 people are homeless. The number of people officially missing from the earthquake has so far exceeded 41,000.
\nVolunteers participating in the rescue operation said that the rescue operation was being hampered by delays in the arrival of food, medicine and heavy equipment. As a result, international rescue teams carrying out the operation have gradually started to wind down their search operations.
