At least 30 people have been killed in floods and landslides caused by days of heavy rain in the West African countries of Ghana and Ivory Coast.
\nHundreds of people have been rescued, but many are still missing, Qatar-based media Al Jazeera reported, citing AFP. As a result, it is feared that the death toll could rise.
\nAt least 12 people have been confirmed dead in the capital Accra as of Tuesday after heavy rains began last Monday.
\nMany homes, roads and low-lying areas in Accra were flooded. Rescue workers worked through the night to rescue people trapped in the area. Greater Accra Fire Service Commander Rashid Kwame Nisau said more than 400 people had been rescued as of yesterday.
\nGhanaian President John Mahama has blamed climate change for the extreme weather and has announced plans to demolish illegal structures.
