A court has sent small screen actor Niamat Ullah Bhuiyan alias Zaher Alvi on a two-day remand in the case of recovering his wife Iqra’s hanging body from her Mirpur house in Dhaka. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Albiruni Mir ordered the remand on Wednesday. The investigating officer of the case, Inspector Abdul Malek of the Mirpur Zonal Team of DB Police, had applied for a 10-day remand for the accused.
\nThe remand application states that Zaher Alvi used to post provocative comments on Iqra’s Facebook, including insults and various types of mental torture. Despite being married, the accused posted a picture with another woman on February 27 and made provocative comments on her Facebook. A 10-day police remand is required to unravel the main mystery of the case, arrest and identify the other absconding accused, and find out the permanent addresses of the accused.
\nEarlier, Alvi surrendered on June 18 and applied for bail. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin rejected the bail application and ordered her to be sent to jail. Earlier, on June 4, Zaher Alvi’s mother Nasrin Sultana surrendered in the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Sefatullah and got bail.
\nOn February 28, at around 12:45 pm, Iqra was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her house by her family members. Later, the owner of the house and his relatives took her to Kurmitola Hospital, where the doctor declared her dead. After receiving the information, the police went to Kurmitola General Hospital to submit the autopsy report of the body and collected various evidence from the house. That night, Iqra’s father Kabir Hayat Khan filed a case in connection with her suicide. In the case, he alleged that Iqra was “forced” to commit suicide due to long-standing “family disputes and various forms of torture”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
