\nThe joint statement of the two countries said that to advance the talks on the basis of the previous memorandum of understanding, the two sides agreed to establish a new mechanism for further technical-level dialogue.
\nThe statement also said that a high-level committee will be formed for political oversight of the mediation process. The chief negotiators will regularly inform the committee about the progress. In addition, separate working groups will work on nuclear issues, sanctions, monitoring and dispute resolution.
\nThe committee also agreed on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final agreement within 60 days. In addition, the two sides decided to establish a direct communication channel to avoid possible misunderstandings and unforeseen events and to ensure the safe passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
\nMeanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claimed that significant progress has been made in ending the Lebanon war. He made this claim in a post in response to a joint statement by Pakistan and Qatar. In the post, Araghchi wrote, “Significant progress has been made in ending the Lebanon war as a result of the relentless mediation of Pakistan and Qatar.”
