The National Consumer Rights Protection Department has conducted a raid on a company in the Latifpur Colony area of \u200b\u200bBogra Sadar on charges of manufacturing counterfeit products. At that time, the company was fined Tk 2 lakh. The raid was conducted on the third floor of a three-story building named \u2018Selina Ashrafer Mandal House\u2019 in Latifpur Colony at around 11 am today, Sunday (May 24).
\nAssistant Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department Mehedi Hasan said that the raid was conducted based on confidential information. It is learned that a person named Firoz Kabir Faruk had rented the third floor of the building about 9 months ago and was manufacturing and marketing various counterfeit products there.
\nAs the allegations were proven true during the raid, the company was fined Tk 2 lakh under the Consumer Rights Act. At the same time, various tools and materials used to manufacture counterfeit products were seized and destroyed. It has been alleged that various products, including ‘Prasanti Tel’ of the registered BD Health Company, were being marketed in exact copies. There have even been allegations of using the original company’s packets and customer information to supply fake products. It has also been learned that the name of Ash-Shifa in Dhaka was being used as the marketing agency for the original ‘Prasanti Tel’.
\nThe owner of the building said that Firoz Kabir Faruk had rented a house on the pretext of staying with his family and doing online business. He was also paying the rent regularly. However, they were not aware of such activities going on in the rented house.
\nFour women and three men worked in the company. An employee named Hasi Khatun working there said that she joined the job a week ago after completing her diploma. Her basic salary was eight thousand taka. She said, “We used to sell products online. We did not know whether the products were original or fake.”
\nArif and Aryan, college students working there, also made similar statements. The National Consumer Rights Protection Department has stated that such operations will continue in the public interest.
