The stars of the cricket world have expressed deep shock and anger over the brutal rape and murder of seven-year-old child Ramisa in the capital’s Pallavi. In a post on social media, they have demanded speedy trial and maximum punishment for the criminals.
\nBangladesh’s veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim wrote, “I am completely shocked to hear this news this morning. Little Ramisa was supposed to be safe, loved and protected… not such a horrific cruelty. I demand speedy and fair justice for this innocent child. No family should ever have to endure such suffering again. Child abuse should be punished to the maximum.”
\nCricketer Shariful Islam wrote in his Facebook post, “The joy of victory is still there, but my heart is heavy and disappointed. What was the fault of this little child? When will we be free from all this? I want justice for Ramisa’s murder. We want such a suitable punishment for the rapists that no one can even think of doing this heinous act in the future. When will we all become one country? We want justice for Ramisa’s murder.” Liton Kumar Das said, “As a father of a daughter, the news of Ramisa is very painful and heartbreaking for me. Such incidents cannot be tolerated in any society. We need a safe world for our children, where they can grow up without fear. We must ensure a speedy trial for what happened. Along with seeking justice for Ramisa, we also want to emphasize that such crimes should be punished to the maximum. We never want to see such a tragic incident again.” Cricketer Imrul Kayes wrote in his post, “Honourable Prime Minister, I humbly request you to protect this country. No child is safe in this country now. Some people have become more violent than wild animals. Those involved in such activities should be given severe punishment, even death penalty, through constitutional amendment. The justice system should be such that no one else dares to commit such heinous acts in the future. InshaAllah, all the people of the country will be by your side on this issue.\u2019 Mehedi Hasan Miraj wrote, \u2018It is very important to quickly bring Ramisha, the eight-year-old child who was tortured in Pallabi, Mirpur, and the perpetrators of all such incidents under the law and ensure maximum punishment. We all need to be more aware and united against rape, torture and all forms of violence. It is our responsibility to ensure a safe childhood, respect and a humane environment for every child. Our pledge is that no other child like Ramisha should be subjected to such torture.\u2019 Hossain said, \u2018Let the smile of a child be a symbol of safety, not fear. We want a society where every child lives in peace and grows up in love. Let no other innocent life like Ramisha be subjected to injustice. Let the criminals be severely punished. May Allah grant little Ramisa Jannatul Firdaus.\u2019
\nAfif Hossain Dhruv wrote, \u2018No child should be allowed to suffer such horror. Silence is not an option. We demand justice, accountability and stronger protection systems for children. Heinous crimes like rape must be brought to justice swiftly, severely and exemplary.\u2019
\nTaskeen Ahmed said in his post, \u2018As a guardian of a girl child, Ramisa\u2019s incident is truly painful and heartbreaking. Such incidents cannot be accepted in any civilized society. Our children need a safe world where they can grow up without fear. We must ensure a swift and fair trial for what happened to Ramisa. At the same time, it is important to impose the strictest punishment against such crimes so that no other family has to face such a nightmare in the future. Bangladesh Test captain Nazmul Hossain posted a sketch of the peaceful child and wrote in the caption, “We want a society where every child can smile safely. Let us grow up with dreams, not fear.
