During his visit to South Korea, expatriate Bangladeshis gave a civic reception to National Citizens Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan. The reception was organized by the NCP Diaspora Alliance, South Korea at 12 noon local time on Sunday (May 17) at the Khimpu Foreign Support Center in Khimpu city.
\nNCP leaders and workers from different levels living in South Korea, as well as expatriate Bangladeshis of different classes and professions, participated in the program. While speaking at the reception, Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan expressed gratitude for the sincerity and hospitality of expatriate members and expatriate Bangladeshis.
\nHe said that when the country was under siege during the July Uprising, the expatriates kept the hope of liberation alive. He expressed gratitude to the expatriates for playing an important role in the uprising. He called on the expatriates to remain united in implementing the July Charter and the aspirations of the referendum, just like the July Uprising. At the same time, he expressed the hope that the expatriates would play an active role in informing the international community and the world about the July Uprising.
\nHe further assured that the NCP would continue to work to continue the voting rights of the expatriates in future elections as well, just like in the last National Parliament elections. NCP Joint Member Secretary Saleh Uddin Sifat said, the expatriate Bangladeshis living in Korea played an important role in the July Uprising. We want them to also play a role in determining the future policies of the state. I came to the Gwangju Democracy Forum. Coming here, I saw the Korean uprising and democratic struggle. I want to highlight Bangladesh’s struggle to the world in the future.
\nThen the expatriates present raised their various problems. They demanded free repatriation of students’ bodies, simplification of the immigration process for Bangladeshis in Korea, prevention of misdeeds of brokers, end of harassment at airports and greater inclusion of expatriates in various matters of the country.
