Bangladesh is not bothered by state government’s comment on installing barbed wire on border, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said. He told the media after a special meeting on the law and order situation of Eid-ul-Azhar at the Secretariat today (May 12).
\nThe Home Minister said, if India installs barbed wire on the border while maintaining no-man’s land, then there will be discussions with the central government. What will be the outcome of the elections in their states, is their internal matter. If India wants to install barbed wire while maintaining no-man’s land, then it will be discussed through diplomatic channels. If the winning party of any Indian state makes any statement on the border, we cannot respond to it. The Indian government will have to inform us about this.
\nHe also said, our Ministry of Foreign Affairs will look into the matter. The Home Ministry’s responsibility is to ensure border security so that no infiltration occurs. We have made that arrangement. BGB alert on forced entry.
\nRegarding security for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said, “Monitoring cells and hotlines of all organizations will be open for seven days before and after Eid. Strict measures have been taken to stop extortion, especially in cattle trucks.” He added, “We have been conducting a campaign against extortionists across the country since April 30. Law enforcement agencies are publishing regular reports on the progress of this campaign. We have made it mandatory.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
