The High Court has rejected the bail plea of \u200b\u200bformer ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in the murder case of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif in Chittagong. A High Court bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher gave the verdict on Sunday (May 10). The court has fixed tomorrow for his bail order in four more cases. Lawyer Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya heard the bail plea in the court. Deputy Attorney General Shayla Sharmin and Assistant Attorney General Md. Alamin heard the plea on behalf of the state.
\nEarlier, the High Court granted him bail on April 30, 2025, in a sedition case for insulting the national flag, but he was shown arrested in those five cases. On October 31, 2024, Firoz Khan, the general secretary of Chandgaon Mohra ward of the city, filed a case against Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari and 19 others at the Kotwali police station on charges of sedition. Chinmoy Krishna and a few others were arrested in this case on November 25 of the same year. In the meantime, when the bail application of Chinmoy Krishna Das, who was arrested in a sedition case, was rejected, on November 26, 2025, a clash broke out in the Chittagong court premises amid the uproar of his followers. At that time, lawyer Saiful Islam was beaten and hacked to death.
