US President Donald Trump has once again strongly claimed that his strategy of applying economic pressure on Iran will be effective. Qatar-based media Al Jazeera reported this information in a report today (May 2). Trump claimed that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is causing losses of millions of dollars to Iranians. In addition, he claimed that the ongoing sanctions on various Iranian individuals and institutions are having a major impact on the country’s economy.
\nIn addition, Trump believes that in the face of this increasing pressure, Tehran will finally be forced to negotiate on its terms. Meanwhile, the US Treasury Department (Ministry of Finance) has made a new announcement. From now on, sanctions will be imposed on individuals or institutions that pay tolls to Iran for transit through the Strait of Hormuz. This is seen as a very serious threat.
\nIn addition, the US Department of State (Ministry of State) has announced a new initiative. Which has been named Maritime Freedom Construct. It will be under the direct control of the US Central Command. Essentially, it is a coalition of ships that will agree to US terms for using the strait. In return, US Navy ships will be able to pass through them safely and will not have to pay any tolls.
