The court has sentenced Abdur Rahim Rony, the sole accused in the murder case of Tasnia Hossain Adita (14), a former eighth grade student of Noakhali Government Girls High School. The court verdict said that Tasnia Hossain Adita was killed because she failed to cover up the incident.
\nToday, Wednesday (April 29), at 12:30 pm, Noakhali Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Judge (District and Sessions Judge) Mohammad Khorshedul Alam Sikder announced the verdict. The tribunal’s Public Prosecutor (PP) Md. Selim Shahi confirmed the verdict.
\nFrom the brief description of the case, it is known that on September 22, 2022, at around 10 pm, the police recovered the bloody body of schoolgirl Adita with her throat, hands and feet cut from her house in Laxminarayanpur area of \u200b\u200bNoakhali Municipality. Police arrested Adita’s former private teacher and local resident Abdur Rahim Rony (30) on the night of the incident on charges of involvement in the murder. Rony later confessed to his crime in court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
\nIn addition, during the arrest, Adita’s nail scratch marks were seen on various parts of Rony’s body, including the head, neck and throat. During the incident, the police also found blood stains on Rony’s shirt. Later, according to Rony’s confession, the police seized the knife, pillow and other evidence used in the murder. The testimony of 41 witnesses has been recorded for the plaintiff in this sensational case. In addition, the judge has accepted the testimony of 5 witnesses for the defendant.
\nTasnia Hossain Adita is the daughter of the late Riaz Hossain Sarkar of Laxminarayanpur in Noakhali Municipality. Her mother Razia Sultana was a teacher at a private school in Begumganj Upazila. Riaz Hossain Sarkar died in South Africa in 2012. Razia Sultana lived with her two daughters in Jahan Manzil, Laxminarayanpur.
\nOn the day of the incident, Adita left home in the morning to go to school. She was alone at home after finishing her private class at 12 noon. Her mother returned home in the evening and found the main door of the house locked. She unlocked it and went inside and found the things in the cupboard in the front room in a mess, but Razia Sultana did not see Adita. After a while, she opened the door of another room and saw her daughter lying half-naked on her bed with her throat and both arms cut.
\nRazia Sultana expressed satisfaction with the court’s verdict and demanded immediate action. Expressing satisfaction with the verdict, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Advocate Molla Habibur Rasul Mamun, said, “The rule of law has been established through this verdict.”
\nThe tribunal’s public prosecutor, Md. Selim Shahi said that the court has given this exemplary punishment after taking the testimony of 41 witnesses and proving the crime after a long legal process. The defense lawyer, Advocate Md.
