Tensions are rising in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important waterways, after US President Donald Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire. After attacking three ships in the strait, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has taken two ships into its custody for inspection.
\nThe BBC reported on Wednesday (April 22) that the target was a ship named ‘Euphoria’, which is currently stranded off the coast of Iran. In addition, the IRGC navy directly seized two ships named ‘MSC Francesca’ and ‘Epaminondas’ and took them to the Iranian coast for inspection.
\nThe IRGC said the move was taken in response to allegations of disrupting maritime security by manipulating navigation and navigation systems without permission.
