Iran has pledged to take effective measures in the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the safe passage of Bangladeshi ships. At the same time, the country has helped to evacuate 186 Bangladeshi citizens from Iran through Azerbaijan. This information was given in a statement sent by the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday (April 21) night.
\nThe statement said that they are committed to further strengthening the long-standing brotherly relations between the two countries. Appreciating the support of the Bangladesh government and people, Iran said that it expressed deep condolences for the Bangladeshi citizens who were killed in the war caused by the ‘illegal aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime’. At the same time, the country wished a speedy recovery to those injured in this unfortunate incident.
\nThe embassy said that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh enjoy long-standing friendly and brotherly relations based on mutual respect and common values. The country reiterated its firm commitment to the policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. The Embassy welcomed the meeting between Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Khatibzadeh on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
\nThey said that they would sincerely follow the constructive and fruitful initiatives between the officials of the two countries and emphasize the further expansion of bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest. Iran appreciated the balanced and constructive stance of the Bangladeshi government in maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East through dialogue and diplomacy. The country considers this path essential for the region and the world community.
\nThe Embassy expressed its sincere gratitude for the condolence message sent by the Bangladeshi government on the death of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, in which he was referred to as the ‘leader of the Islamic Revolution’ and the ‘leader of the Muslim Ummah’. In particular, the adoption of the condolence resolution in the inaugural session of the 13th National Parliament has been praised as a significant and exceptional step.
\nIran has appreciated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s decision to send emergency medical assistance to Iran through the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. In addition, the Iranian Embassy in a press release called on all concerned to refrain from any actions or statements that may create misunderstandings. It has also been requested to maintain the spirit of mutual respect as the basis of the long-standing relations between the two brotherly countries.
\nThe Embassy has expressed dissatisfaction with the special broadcast of selected excerpts of interviews given to the media on the recent situation in the Middle East. These interviews have been republished by certain media outlets and social media. The Embassy said that such actions are inconsistent with the friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries.
