The court has changed the date of the verdict in the murder case of Noakhali schoolgirl Tasnia Hossain Adita (14) to April 29. Today, Wednesday (April 15), Noakhali Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Judge Mohammad Khorshedul Alam Sikder set this date.
\nThe matter was confirmed by the Prosecutor (PP) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Md. Selim Shahi. He said that although the date of the verdict in the case was scheduled for today, the judge rescheduled the date of the verdict while sitting in the courtroom. The date of the verdict in the case has been postponed until April 29.
\nThe deceased Adita is the daughter of the late Riaz Hossain Sarkar of Laxminarayanpur area of \u200b\u200bNoakhali Municipality. Her mother Razia Sultana is a teacher at a private school in Begumganj Upazila. On the other hand, the accused Abdur Rahim Roni (32) is the son of Khalil Mia of Laxminarayanpur area of \u200b\u200bNoakhali Municipality.
\nAccording to the case report, on the afternoon of September 22, 2022, the police recovered Adita’s bloody body from Jahan Manzil in Laxminarayanpur area of \u200b\u200bNoakhali Municipality. Her throat, hands and feet were cut, which created a sensation in the entire area. The police arrested Adita’s former tutor Abdur Rahim Roni on the night of the incident. Later, according to Roni’s confession, the police seized the knife, pillow and other evidence used in the murder. During interrogation, he admitted responsibility for the murder and gave a statement under Section 164 in the court.
\nAccording to the family sources of the deceased, Adita was angry that Roni had stopped studying with her a few days ago and started coaching somewhere else. On the afternoon of the incident, Roni entered the house and tried to rape her when Adita’s mother was not at home. Failing this, he slit Adita’s throat to cover up the matter and scattered the household items to give a different look to the incident.
\nAdita’s mother Razia Sultana said, “I want justice for my daughter’s murder. The murderer should be punished in such a way that no one else dares to commit such a crime.” Police said that during the arrest, scratches were found on Roni’s body in various places and blood stains were found on his clothes. According to the information provided by him, the knife used in the murder and other evidence were recovered. After taking the testimonies of 41 witnesses for the plaintiff and 5 for the defendant, the court fixed the date for the verdict.
