Two more large ships carrying 68,000 tons of diesel have arrived at Chittagong Port to meet the country’s energy needs. The two ships arrived at the outer anchorage of the port on Tuesday evening (April 14) and the initial process of unloading oil from the ships has begun.
\nAccording to the port authority and shipping agent, the Indonesian-flagged tanker ‘Lucia Solis’ arrived at the outer anchorage yesterday afternoon with about 34,991 tons of diesel. The ship is scheduled to dock at the Dolphin Jetty in Patenga by noon today, Wednesday (April 15).
\nOn the other hand, the Danish-flagged ‘Torm Damini’ arrived at the port at night with about 32,935 tons of diesel. Pride Shipping is working as the local agent for the two ships.
\nPride Shipping Managing Partner Nazrul Islam said that Lucia has departed for Solis Jetty and lightering operations (transferring oil to smaller vessels) are currently underway from Torm Damini. It may take about two days to completely unload the oil from each vessel.
