National Citizen Party convener and opposition party chief whip Nahid Islam said that BNP has dragged the nation into the current disaster. He said that BNP will have to bear the responsibility for this and will have to suffer the consequences.
\nHe said these things in his welcome address at a national seminar titled ‘Government against referendum verdict: Country in crisis’ at the Diploma Engineers Institute (IEDB) auditorium in the capital today, Monday (April 13). The seminar was organized by the initiative of the 11-party alliance. Nahid Islam said that 10 children died yesterday in the measles disaster. There is a cry all over the country, the common man is not getting ICU.
\nAnd you all know about the oil crisis. But unfortunately, the state reforms that we have fought for for the last 16 years, the issues that we talked about during the last one and a half years of the interim government, now we have to talk about the same issues. We have to talk about that issue, we have to prepare for the movement again around that issue. BNP has dragged the nation into this disaster. As a result, BNP will have to bear the responsibility for it and suffer its consequences. That consequence will not be easy.
\nHe said, one of the demands of the mass uprising was the abolition of the fascist system. There will be a new settlement, where dictatorship will not return again and again. That is why we agreed on the demand for reforms and state repair, so that fascism can be eradicated. As a result, we wanted the abolition of fascism, we wanted a new constitution, BNP wanted elections. As a result, an agreement was reached that the parliament would be reformed through the Consensus Commission. We agreed on the demand for a new constitution and a Constituent Assembly instead of the Reform Council. BNP also moved away from the place of elections and agreed to many reforms. The referendum was held from that place. But after the referendum, you see that the people’s opinion on the referendum has been denied. BNP is now creating an artificial conflict or crisis.
\nThe Chief Whip of the opposition party said that although they say they will follow the July Charter to the letter, the July Order is illegal. They are opposing the July Order on the basis of which the referendum was held and the referendum was held. Because they have created this crisis by turning the July Charter into their party manifesto, brought a referendum proposal and also talked about forming a Constitutional Reform Council through a referendum. Because these fundamental reforms are not possible through amending the constitution. The seminar was presided over by Amir Mamunul Haque of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis.
