Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Monday (April 6) that it had targeted an Israeli-owned container ship and a US assault ship. In a statement carried by Iran’s state-run Sepah News, the IRGC said it had detailed its 98th round of strikes against Israeli and US targets earlier in the day.
\nThe IRGC named the container ship as ‘SDN7’ and said it was hit by a cruise missile and caught fire. It added that the US amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA-7), which carries more than 5,000 troops, was forced to turn back towards the southern Indian Ocean after being targeted.
\nThe IRGC also claimed that its forces had carried out targeted ballistic missile attacks on strategic centers in the Israeli city of Haifa, as well as the Beer Sheva Petrochemical Company and its facilities. An Israeli military assembly center in Petah Tikva, central Israel, was also attacked. According to the IRGC, other targets of the missile and drone attacks included a joint drone production facility between the United Arab Emirates and Israel and several aircraft at the Arab country\u2019s Ali al-Salem air base. On February 28, Israel and the United States launched joint strikes on several cities in Iran, including Tehran, killing Iran\u2019s then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and top military officials and civilians. In response, Iran launched a series of missile and drone attacks on Israeli and US bases and assets in the Middle East. It also imposed tight control over the Strait of Hormuz.
\nEarlier, various media reports recently said that Iran had launched a ballistic missile attack on a joint UK-US military base on the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia. However, Iran later denied the reports.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
