Train services between Dhaka and Noakhali have been temporarily suspended after trees uprooted on railway lines in Noakhali. Hundreds of passengers have been stranded after the intercity ‘Upkul Express’ train got stuck at Maijdi Court station since early Tuesday (April 7).
\nAccording to local and railway sources, strong winds accompanied by thunder and lightning blew in various places including Maijdi, the district town of Noakhali, at midnight today. The storm uprooted large trees at various places along the railway line, including shops in Harinarayanpur and Basira.
\nThe Coastal Express left Noakhali Station (Sonapur) at 6 am, but it got stuck at Harinarayanpur station due to trees. Later, the fire brigade removed the trees and the train reached Maijdi Court station. However, the train remained standing there until 8:23 am as trees were uprooted on the adjacent line.
\nNoakhali Railway Station Master Asaduzzaman said that railway workers and fire brigade members have been cleaning the line since morning. It may take a few more hours to completely remove the trees. Train traffic will be normal once the work is completed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
