Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Prannoy Verma paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The meeting was held at the Cabinet meeting room of the Prime Minister’s Office at the Secretariat on Monday (April 6) morning.
\nA picture sent by the Prime Minister’s Press Wing shows the Indian High Commissioner presenting a book by Rabindranath Tagore and a showpiece to the Prime Minister. The Indian High Commissioner said that India is interested in further advancing relations with Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
\nAfter the meeting, Prime Minister’s Advisor Humayun Kabir said that the meeting discussed the issue of bringing diesel from India through a pipeline. Its aim is to advance relations with India under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and maintain relations with the people of the two countries. Many things can be resolved if the two countries have good bilateral relations.
\nHe also said that the issue of Sheikh Hasina is currently under legal process. Sheikh Hasina is politically dead in Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League in Bangladesh no longer exists.
\nThe advisor said that the Foreign Minister and the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Advisor are going to Mauritius to participate in the Indian Ocean Conference. On the way, they will also pay a courtesy call on India. A meeting with the Indian Foreign Minister and Security Minister is scheduled there.
