A courtesy meeting and discussion was held between the Honorable Minister of Finance and Planning of the Government of Bangladesh, Mr. Ameer Khasru Mahmud, and the administrator and leaders of the Bangladesh Ship Breakers and Recyclers Association (BSBRA).
\nThe meeting took place on Friday (April 3) at 7:00 PM at the Minister\u2019s residence in Mehedibag, Chattogram. Representing BSBRA were Administrator Abu Safayet Mohammad Sahedul Islam, Advisory Council and Support Committee members Shawkat Ali Chowdhury, Liaquat Ali Chowdhury, Mohammad Zahirul Islam Rinku, Master Abul Kashem, Taslim Uddin, and Secretary Nazmul Islam.
\nDuring the meeting, BSBRA leaders discussed the current state, prospects, and overall development of the country\u2019s vital ship recycling industry. They also highlighted various existing challenges and issues affecting the sector and sought the Minister\u2019s attention for their resolution.
\nThe leaders emphasized that Bangladesh has now achieved a strong global position in environmentally compliant \u201cgreen ship recycling yards.\u201d A number of local yards have already been upgraded to meet international standards, strengthening the country\u2019s standing in the global market. They further noted that the industry is increasingly aligning with the standards of the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, ensuring safer and more environmentally responsible operations.
\nThe Honorable Minister listened attentively to the concerns and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the industry. He assured that necessary steps would be taken to address the existing challenges and to support the sustainable development of the ship recycling sector.
\nStakeholders expressed optimism that with continued government support, Bangladesh\u2019s ship recycling industry will become more dynamic and play an even greater role in the national economy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
