Claiming that there is no fuel shortage, Department of Energy spokesperson Monir Hossain Chowdhury said that 1 lakh 28 thousand 939 metric tons of diesel, 7 thousand 940 metric tons of octane and 11 thousand 431 metric tons of petrol are in stock so far. There is also adequate stock of jet fuel. So far, 2 lakh 96 thousand metric tons of fuel have been recovered in various operations. In addition, 1244 cases have been filed and 44 people have been sentenced to prison.
\nHe made these comments regarding the fuel situation at the Secretariat on Tuesday (March 31) afternoon. Monir Hossain Chowdhury mentioned that the same amount of fuel was supplied to the depots last year and the same amount is being supplied this year too. According to him, an artificial crisis is being created to maintain the stock. He said that the government will take action if it receives specific complaints about not getting fuel from the depot. The Energy Department spokesperson said that the government plans to issue fuel cards for certain vehicles this week.
