Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has commented that the opposition party took the oath of Reform Council unconstitutionally. He said that the state does not run on emotions, but on the law. Today, Sunday (March 15), Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed made this statement in the parliament in the context of the statement of opposition leader Jamaat-e-Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman regarding the July Charter.
\nStating that the government is committed to implementing the July Charter, Salahuddin Ahmed said, we will implement the July Charter to the letter. However, it will be through the law, rules and regulations and the constitution. He said that according to the constitution, the President has called a session of the National Parliament, there is no such thing as a ‘Reform Council’. An amendment to the constitution must first be brought to implement the Constitutional Reform Council according to the July Charter.
\nThe Home Minister said that the President has called a session of the National Parliament, not a session of the ‘Reform Council’. We are now constitutionally participating in the session of the National Parliament. He also said that the constitutional validity of the council that is being talked about under the July National Charter has already been challenged in the court and a rule has been issued in this regard. The matter is now under the consideration of the judiciary.
\nSalauddin Ahmed said that according to the constitution, there is currently no such council. If such a council is to be formed based on the referendum verdict, then an amendment to the constitution will have to be brought first. Only after the constitution is amended after discussion in the parliament, it will be included in the constitution and later, if necessary, the issue of forming the council and taking the oath may come up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
