Iranians bid farewell to Ali Shamkhani, a political advisor and close aide to the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with tears and love. His funeral was held in the capital Tehran.
\nA large number of people attended the funeral held at the Imamzadeh Saleh shrine in northern Tehran on Saturday (March 14). His burial was held in the shrine’s compound after the funeral.
\nThe 70-year-old former Revolutionary Guard commander was appointed secretary of the Defense Council by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei himself after last year’s Iran-Israel war. At that time, Shamkhani miraculously survived another deadly attack in Tehran. He then challenged Israel.
