According to the constitution, President Md. Shahabuddin is scheduled to address the first session of the 13th National Parliament. However, Jamaat has alleged that the President does not have the right to address. The party has called the current head of state an accomplice of fascists.
\nJamaat Naib-e-Ameer and Comilla-11 MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher made this allegation at a press conference after the opposition parliamentary committee meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday (March 11). Meanwhile, after the meeting of the BNP parliamentary party led by the Prime Minister and Parliament Leader Tarique Rahman, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that President Md. Shahabuddin will address the Jatiya Sangsad.
\nEarlier, in another briefing, Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said that his party has rejected the verbal proposal made by the ruling party BNP to elect a deputy speaker from the opposition Jamaat in the 13th National Parliament.
