\nYesterday, Tuesday (March 10), the US Central Command said that the US military had ‘destroyed’ 16 Iranian mine-laying ships near the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, US President Donald Trump warned that if Iran continues to lay any mines near the Strait of Hormuz, they must be removed immediately.
\nEarlier, Trump claimed that the US had already ‘completely destroyed’ 10 inactive mine-laying ships. In response to reports that Iran has begun laying mines in the vital waterway, Trump wrote on his social media account Truth Social, “If Iran has laid any mines in the Strait of Hormuz – although we do not yet have such information – we want them removed immediately.” He added that if Tehran does not do so, they will face military consequences. However, he did not provide any details on this matter.
\nMeanwhile, the Pentagon said that it is targeting Iranian mine-laying ships and mine storage facilities. The ongoing US-Israeli war against Iran has already brought the Strait of Hormuz to a near standstill.
