Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has decided to apply mosquito repellent 3 times a day to control the increasing mosquito infestation in the capital. It has also been informed that a special rapid response team has been formed to make the mosquito repellent program more effective and strong.
\nDNCC Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam Khan has taken coordinated initiatives by giving top priority to mosquito repellent since assuming office. On his instructions, the new schedule for applying mosquito repellent across the city is coming into effect from today.
\nThe new schedule has been fixed through a letter signed by DNCC Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury. According to the new instructions, larviciding activities will be conducted in the morning to destroy mosquito larvae and fogging activities will be conducted in the afternoon and evening at night and fogging activities will be conducted at night according to the hours of highest flight and activity in different areas. Thus, all-out efforts will continue to control the breeding and spread of mosquitoes by conducting mosquito extermination activities thrice a day in different areas.
\nIt has also been informed that mosquito extermination activities will continue even on weekends. All concerned health officials have been directed to regularly monitor the activities of regional mosquito extermination teams on the spot. Meanwhile, special operations have been conducted in hotspots through QRT teams and an updated list of Culex mosquito breeding grounds, such as drains, sewage lines, water bodies, canals and beels, has been prepared and action has been taken.
\nThe DNCC authorities have given utmost importance to the prevention of dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases. Necessary instructions have been given to ensure the presence and activities of all mosquito extermination workers as per the scheduled schedule and field level supervision measures have been taken.
\nThe DNCC has called upon the citizens to actively cooperate in destroying mosquito breeding grounds by maintaining cleanliness in their houses, roofs, balconies, front and back yards and surroundings, adhering to proper waste management and ensuring that there is no stagnant water anywhere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
