BNP standing committee member and newly elected MP from Dhaka-3 constituency Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has opened up about the viral video of the swearing-in ceremony. He has made it clear that he has no interest in becoming a minister; he wants to present the people’s views in parliament as an MP.
\nHe said this at a view-sharing meeting with government officials and heads of educational institutions working in Keraniganj organized by the upazila administration at the Keraniganj Upazila Parishad auditorium on Tuesday (February 24) morning. A video of his argument at the swearing-in ceremony of the ministers on February 17 went viral on social media.
\nRegarding this, Gayeshwar said, “I knew in advance when I was called to the cabinet. As a senior leader, I was given a seat in the front row. But an official, without knowing, asked everyone except the minister to vacate their seats. He even threatened that if I did not go, he would call the SSF and take action.”
\n“I left the venue in this situation. When I was leaving, many people requested me to stay and I expressed some anger. This is what has been presented differently in the media,” he said. Calling for objective journalism, the BNP leader said, “I do not want to take up the ministry.
