A youth was killed when he was hit by a speeding pickup truck while crossing the highway with Iftar items from his workplace in Mirsarai, Chittagong. Another person was seriously injured. The accident occurred on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at 6 pm on Wednesday (February 18) in the Daksin Sonapahar Notun Nahar Agro area of \u200b\u200bZorarganj Union, Chittagong-bound upazila.
\nThe deceased youth has been identified as Jahed Hasan Sumon (20). He is the son of local Mohammad Yusuf. The seriously injured youth is Iqbal Hossain (24). He is the son of Mohammad Selim Uddin of the same area. Both of them worked at the local Nahar Agro Group. According to the Highway Police and direct sources, Sumon died on the spot after being hit by a speeding pickup truck while crossing the highway while returning from his workplace with Iftar items yesterday evening. The seriously injured Iqbal was rescued and taken first to the Upazila Health Complex and later to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Borhan Uddin, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Zorarganj Highway Police Station, confirmed the accident. He said, “Yesterday evening, we received information that a local Nahar worker was killed and another injured in the accident. We have arrested the accused transporter.
