After securing an absolute majority in the 13th parliamentary elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has started preparations to form the government. The possible date for the swearing-in of the new cabinet has been set for Tuesday, February 17. The Prime Minister of India, along with heads of government of various regional countries, have been invited to the ceremony.
\nHowever, the Indian media Hindustan Times has indicated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be able to attend the ceremony.
\nIn a report today, Sunday (February 15), the media reported that French President Emmanuel Macron is visiting India on February 17. A meeting between Modi and Macron is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on that day. According to the schedule of the visit, the French President will later attend the AI \u200b\u200bImpact Conference organized in the Indian capital New Delhi. He will stay in India until February 19 and return home.
\nThe Hindustan Times report said that a high-ranking official of the country will attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new government of Bangladesh instead of Modi. The possible candidates are India’s Vice President or Foreign Minister Tarique Rahman.
\nEarlier, on February 13, the Indian Prime Minister congratulated Tarique Rahman on the landslide victory of the BNP. Modi noted that this victory is a reflection of the immense trust and confidence of the people of Bangladesh under the leadership of Tarique Rahman. He expressed hope that in the coming days, the multifaceted relations between the two countries will further strengthen and both countries will work together to achieve common development goals.
