The official campaign for the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum ended at 7:30 am today (February 10). According to the provisions of the Election Commission (EC), the election campaign must end 48 hours before the start of voting. Earlier, Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said these things at a press conference at the Agargaon Election Building on Monday.
\nHe said, “Everyone is busy with the campaign. However, it has to end at 7:30 am today.” Election Commission (EC) officials said that the campaign for the parliamentary election must end 48 hours before the start of voting. Voting for this election will begin at 7:30 am on February 12. 48 hours earlier, i.e. at 7:30 am on February 10. That is, all types of campaigning of all candidates will end by this time. The EC had an opportunity to campaign for 20 days from December 22.
\nIn this regard, Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said that the campaigning of political parties in the election will end at 7:30 am on February 10, 48 hours before the polling. The 13th National Parliament election and referendum will be held simultaneously in 299 parliamentary constituencies on February 12. Meanwhile, the EC recently canceled the 13th National Parliament election in Sherpur-3 constituency due to the death of a Jamaat-e-Islami candidate. 51 political parties are participating in the election. A total of 2,034 candidates are participating, of which 275 are independent candidates. BNP has fielded the highest number of candidates among the political parties. 291 candidates are contesting the election with the party’s symbol ‘Sheaf of Rice’. In addition, the second highest number of 258 candidates of Islami Andolan Bangladesh are contesting with the ‘Hatpakha’ symbol. 229 candidates of Jamaat are contesting with the ‘Daripalla’ symbol. In addition, 198 candidates are contesting with the Jatiya Party’s plough symbol. On the other hand, 32 candidates of the National Citizens Party (NCP) are contesting under the Shapla Kali symbol.
