On the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum, the Road Transport and Highways Department has issued a ban on vehicle movement. As part of this, motorcycle movement will be banned across the country for 72 hours from midnight on February 10. The ban was recently imposed in a notification signed by Al-Amin Md. Nurul Islam, Deputy Secretary of the BRTA Establishment Branch of the Road Transport and Highways Department.
\nThe notification said that on the occasion of the 13th National Parliament Election and the referendum to be held on February 12, a ban has been issued on motorcycle movement from 12:00 am on February 10 to 12:00 am on February 13 (72 hours). At the same time, a ban has been issued on the movement of taxi cabs, pickups, microbuses and trucks from 12:00 am on February 11 to 12:00 am on February 12 (24 hours).
\nHowever, this ban will be relaxed for law enforcement agencies, armed forces, administration and authorized observers; Vehicles engaged in the supply of emergency services, medicines, health-care and similar goods and all types of vehicles carrying newspapers; Vehicles used for going to the airport for relatives, vehicles used for returning from the airport with passengers or relatives to their own residence or to the residence of relatives (subject to production of tickets or similar proofs) and any vehicle carrying long-distance passengers or used for local travel as long-distance passengers.
\nOn the other hand, one small vehicle for a contesting candidate and one for the election agent of a contesting candidate (subject to possession of appropriate appointment letter or identity card) will be allowed to move subject to the approval of the Returning Officer and the display of stickers on the vehicle. Also, vehicles and motorcycles used by journalists, observers are subject to the approval of the Election Commission or the Returning Officer; Motorcycles for officials and employees engaged in election work or any other person, subject to the approval of the Election Commission; Considering telecommunication services as an essential service, vehicles of BTRC and BTRC-licensed organizations; as well as important roads for exiting or entering national highways, ports, inter-district or metropolitan cities and roads connecting highways and main roads, will be relaxed by taking necessary effective measures to relax the restrictions on all relevant roads.
