Russia has carried out airstrikes in the Ukrainian capital Kiev and the northeastern city of Kharkiv. Officials say 13 people have been injured in the attacks. Reuters news agency reported that the attacks took place early on Saturday (January 24). Meanwhile, Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said two people were injured in the Russian airstrikes there. They are in serious condition and are being treated in hospital.
\n“At least two districts of Kiev, located on both banks of the Dnipro River, have been attacked,” he said. “Kiev is under massive enemy attack,” Klitschko wrote in a message on Telegram. The Ukrainian Air Force said both drones and missiles were used to target the capital. Kiev has suffered two major attacks since the New Year. As a result, hundreds of residential buildings have been cut off from electricity and heating. Emergency workers are still working to restore services. Nighttime temperatures are reported to have dropped to minus 13 degrees Celsius.
\nIn addition, the head of the Kiev military administration, Timur Tkachenko, said that drone strikes had been carried out in at least three districts, causing fires in at least two places. Meanwhile, several drone strikes were also carried out in Kharkiv, located just 30 kilometers from the Russian border. The city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said that at least 11 people were injured in the attacks.
