The court has not allowed Moazzem Hossain, former Assistant Private Secretary (APS) of Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, former advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, to go to Thailand for treatment. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Sabbir Faiz gave this order on Tuesday (January 20) due to corruption allegations.
\nAdvocate Md. Raihan held a hearing seeking permission for Moazzem to go to Thailand for treatment. During the hearing, he said that Moazzem Hossain has been involved in a petition case on charges of conspiracy to harass. He is not involved in any law and order-breaking or anti-state activities. He fell and injured his spine. Fluid is coming out from there. He wants to go to Thailand for treatment. The appointment date has been set for February 15.
\nAfter the hearing, the court dismissed the application. On May 24 last year, the same court blocked Moazzem Hossain’s National Identity Card (NID) and banned him from leaving the country.
\nThe petition said that an investigation is underway against Moazzem Hossain on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth hundreds of crores of taka through various irregularities and corruption including abuse of power, lobbying, extortion, tender rigging. Reliable sources have informed that the person involved in the allegations may flee the country.
