The government of Iran has suspended the death sentence of Erfan Soltani, a young man arrested and sentenced to death for joining the anti-government movement in Iran. The British media outlet The Guardian reported this information in a report citing Erfan’s family.
\nIt is known that Erfan Soleimani, 26, is a businessman by profession. His home is in Karaj, a suburb of the capital Tehran.
\nIncidentally, he was arrested from his home in Karaj on January 8 on charges of joining the anti-government protests. He was then sentenced to death after just three days of trial. No relatives or friends of Soltani’s family were allowed to attend the court proceedings.
\nAccording to the British daily The Guardian, Soltani’s sister is a registered and professional lawyer. She was also unable to attend. His execution was scheduled for Wednesday (January 14).
