A young man named Abdus Salam (35) died after being attacked by an elephant while taking pictures of wild elephants in Naikshangchhari, Bandarban. He is a tubewell mechanic by profession. The incident took place at around 6:45 am today, Saturday (January 3) in the Longabil Titar Para area of \u200b\u200bWard No. 6 of Baishari Union of Naikshangchhari Upazila.
\nLocals including eyewitnesses Ruby Akhter and Manuara Begum said that a wild elephant was crossing the road in front of Abdus Salam’s house at around 6:45 am. While taking pictures of the elephant, he suddenly stepped back a little. At that time, the elephant suddenly became agitated due to the barking of a nearby dog. Within a short time, the elephant jumped on Salam and trampled him underfoot. He died on the spot.
