The funeral and burial of former Home Minister and BNP Vice Chairman Major General (Retd.) Mahmudul Hasan have been completed. The funeral was held at Bindubasini Boys’ High School grounds in Tangail city on Thursday (January 1) afternoon. After the funeral, he was buried next to his wife’s grave in the courtyard of his house in Santesh, Tangail.
\nThousands of people from all walks of life participated in the funeral, regardless of party beliefs. Major General (Retd.) Mahmudul Hasan played an important role in the country’s politics as a former Home Minister and BNP Vice Chairman. After serving in the Bangladesh Army for a long time, he became active in politics. While in charge of the Home Ministry, he made important contributions to maintaining law and order and strengthening national security.
\nBefore the funeral, speakers said that Mahmudul Hasan was an honest, disciplined and patriotic leader. With his death, the country lost an experienced and responsible politician. Earlier, he breathed his last at his residence in Gulshan on Wednesday (December 31) at 3:30 pm. He is survived by a son and a daughter.
