Newly appointed Chief Justice Zubair Rahman Chowdhury has issued strict instructions to subordinate court judges regarding the use of social media, including Facebook. He said that there is no opportunity to use social media during the working hours of the court. If any judge does so and evidence of it is found, then that day will be the last day of his judicial life, he warned.
\nThe Chief Justice gave this stern warning to all judges of the country in a recent speech at the Supreme Court Auditorium. The Chief Justice directed the judges to take necessary steps to improve the court environment, deliver orders and verdicts in cases as soon as possible, maintain integrity and prohibit outsiders from entering the court.
\nIn his speech, the Chief Justice said that a zero tolerance policy against corruption will be maintained. There is no room for any kind of irregularity and corruption to be allowed to sit on the judge’s seat. If evidence of corruption and irregularities is found against any judicial officer, he will have to pay a heavy price. It is to be noted that the office hours of the subordinate courts are from 9 am to 5 pm. During this, the working hours of the courts are from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. There is a break for lunch and prayers.
\nOn December 23, the President appointed Zubair Rahman Chowdhury, senior judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, as the 26th Chief Justice of the country. The President appointed him to this post under the power of Article 95(1) of the Constitution.
