BNP has made an electoral agreement with the religious political party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh. As part of this, BNP has given the party 4 seats. The agreement was announced at a joint press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Tuesday (December 23) afternoon. At the press conference, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that BNP will not field candidates in 4 seats based on the electoral agreement with Jamiat.
\nAccording to the BNP central decision, BNP will not field any candidate in these seats. If someone becomes an independent candidate here, the party will take action. The seats that have been left for Jamiat are: Manjurul Islam Afendi from Nilphamari-1, Monir Hossain Qasemi from Narayanganj-4, Amir Ubaidullah Faruk from Sylhet-5 and Junaid Al Habib from Brahmanbaria-2.
\nBNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, Jamiat President Maulana Ubaidullah Faruk, Secretary General Manjurul Islam Afendi were present at the press conference. At that time, BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed said, BNP has reached an electoral agreement with Jamiat. BNP and Jamiat will not field candidates in each other’s seats. There will be no BNP candidate in the seats where we have reached an agreement with them. Similarly, there will be no Jamiat candidate in other seats in Bangladesh. It is learned that Jamiat initially demanded 5 seats, but BNP agreed to 3 seats.
