Despite fluctuations in exports to the United States this year, China has achieved a record trade surplus this year. The country’s total trade surplus in the first 11 months of 2025 was about $1.08 trillion, China’s highest in a year. US media CNN News reported this information in a report on Monday (December 8). According to customs data released today (December 8), China’s exports in November increased by 5.9 percent in dollar terms to a total of $330 billion. This growth is a new sign of hope for the country’s trade sector after an unexpected contraction in October.
\nHowever, Chinese exports to the United States are still in a “worrying” state. Exports to the United States in November fell by about 29 percent compared to last year, the lowest in eight consecutive months. Although the decision to reduce tariffs has taken effect, analysts believe that its impact has not yet been fully reflected in the market. On the other hand, overall exports have remained stable as demand for Chinese products in Southeast Asia, Africa, Latin America and the European Union has increased.
\nChina’s imports have increased by 1.9 percent, reaching a total of $218.6 billion, amid the undeclared ‘trade war’ with the United States. Last October, US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in South Korea after a year-long trade deal, and the two countries made decisions such as partial tariff relief and the easing of rare earth export controls.
\nWith exports still in a strong position, China is expected to achieve its growth target of around 5 percent this year. The country has announced a goal of further increasing exports to the global market in the coming years, with priority given to electric vehicles, batteries, robotics and advanced manufacturing industries. Morgan Stanley forecasts that China’s share of the global export market could reach 16.5 percent by 2030.
