In just two days, the country was shaken by an earthquake again. Today, Thursday (December 4), an earthquake was felt in various parts of the country including the capital at 6:14 am. Its magnitude was 4.1 on the Richter scale. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that the earthquake was of mild magnitude. The earthquake was felt at 6:14:45 am. Its epicenter was in Shibpur, Narsingdi. The epicenter of the earthquake was 38 kilometers northeast of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s Earthquake Observation and Research Center located in Agargaon, Dhaka.
\nThe Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center said that the epicenter of the earthquake was 33 kilometers east-northeast of Tongi in Gazipur and 3 kilometers north of Narsingdi. Its depth from the surface was 30 kilometers. Earlier, an earthquake was felt in Dhaka, Sylhet, Cox’s Bazar and Chittagong last Monday (December 1). The earthquake struck at 12:55 last night. Its magnitude was 4.9 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was in Minjin, Myanmar.
\nEarlier, an earthquake hit the capital Dhaka on Thursday (November 27). The earthquake struck at 4:15:20 that afternoon. Its magnitude was 3.6 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was in Ghorashal, Palash upazila, Narsingdi. The Meteorological Department said that two earthquakes were felt in Sylhet and Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar early that day.
\nIt is worth noting that four earthquakes occurred in and around Dhaka within about 31 hours on Friday, November 21 and the following Saturday. Among them, an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale occurred about 25 kilometers from Dhaka on Friday morning. Its epicenter was in Madhabadi, Narsingdi. At least 10 people were killed in the November 21 earthquake. Hundreds of people were injured.
