The survey, conducted by the IRI\u2019s Center for Insights in Survey Research, found that participants expressed a high level of confidence in the chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus and the interim government.
\n\u201cIt is clear that the people see the potential for progress under Dr. Yunus\u2019 leadership. This public confidence in him and the interim government reflects their high expectations for stability, accountability and reform.\u201d The survey also found that voters are also very interested in the upcoming national elections. 66 percent of voters said they were very interested in voting. And 23 percent said they were \u2018somewhat interested\u2019. In addition, 80 percent of the survey participants believe that the elections will be free and fair.
\nJohanna Kao added, \u201cThis enthusiasm among Bangladeshis is a testament to the importance of sustaining the reform process and making the elections credible and peaceful.\u201d IRI regularly conducts public opinion surveys in Bangladesh.
