BNP’s co-international affairs secretary Rumeen Farhana has commented that the government has secret support for Towhidi Janata. She made this comment recently on a private television talk show. Rumeen Farhana said that Towhidi Janata can be different groups in every area. The government has secret support for each of them. The government has not taken any action other than condemning all the incidents of mass terrorism that have happened so far.
\nShe said that since August 5, when such incidents are happening one after another. Attacks are going on one community after another. Sometimes the Baul community, sometimes the Ahmadiyya community, sometimes attacks on female footballers. Sometimes they are trying to stop the drama. It is the government’s responsibility to ensure that one incident after another does not happen. But I do not understand what the government is doing.
\nShe also said that the main victims of this activity are women. An actress will go to the inauguration of a showroom, there will be trouble. An actress is organizing something, there will be a break. A cultural program is being organized, there will be a break there too. Girls will play football, there will be a break there. The first target is women. Then the minorities of the society are the target.
\nHe further said that statistics show that in 365 days, more than 380 shrines have been attacked. Not a single incident has been prosecuted. Those who were associated with the fascist Awami League government may not be at home now. Their relatives’ houses are also being attacked. In the last few days, the house of a former MP’s brother was attacked. Only women were in that house. They came out and expressed helplessness. This is a trend that you (Chief Advisor) started, can you stop this trend if you want? You cannot. Those who are in a favorable position now will be in a somewhat unfavorable position when they go the other way and then they will not be sure that they will not be attacked.
\nCommenting on the opportunity that the government is taking from the incident of mass beatings, the BNP leader said that there is no political party in the government. The government wants a pressure group to be on its side. The government wants the pressure groups to speak up for what they cannot say and what they want to do. The government can do that very easily. Nurturing these pressure groups, providing them with legal assistance, ensuring that law enforcement agencies cannot stop them if they go too far – these are the things the government is doing.
