US President Donald Trump and New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani met at the White House. The meeting was held without any tension. Earlier, Trump had attacked Mamdani as a 100% communist lunatic, but this time the meeting showed a completely different picture.
\nTrump said, “I didn’t think we would have so much in common. He addressed Mamdani as Mr. Mayor and wished him success as mayor of New York.” It is worth noting that the live broadcast of the Trump-Mamdani meeting in the Oval Office caused a huge stir in the political arena.
\nTrump and Mamdani said that in their private meeting, they discussed practical issues such as the cost of living, inflation and affordable living. Trump said, “Some of his ideas are in line with my ideas.” The US president also claimed that some of his supporters also voted for Mamdani.
\nReal estate tycoon-turned-politician Trump particularly welcomed Mamdani’s call for more housing in New York. However, the two men reportedly avoided major disagreements during their meeting, such as immigration policy and the war in Gaza.
